Please join us on Sunday, September 10, 5-7pm, at the National Humanities Center for a discussion with Jeffrey Ryan Harris from the History program at UNC. We’ll be discussing “Jansenists, Encyclopédistes, Magistrates, and the Corporate General Will: The Argument for the Vote by Order in the Prerevolutionary Crisis,” a chapter from Jeffrey’s dissertation “The Struggle for the General Will in the French and Haitian Revolutions.” Jeffrey has also given us an Excel spreadsheet showing the points of overlap and divergence between the three variants of the general will examined in his dissertation. These documents are available in the Papers section of this website. Please contact one of the co-conveners for the password.
