Please join us on Sunday, April 26 at 5pm at the National Humanities Center for our final seminar meeting of the 2025-2026 academic year. Don Reid, J. Wesley & A. Hodgin Hanes Distinguished Professor of History at UNC-Chapel Hill and former co-convener of the seminar, will be discussing his book project, “Bidasses en lutte: Insubordination in the French Army during the Long 1968.” The project investigates the soldiers’ movement of the 1970s in relation to several “interpretative narratives” about France in this decade: “legacies of the Third Republic; the ways the French called on the memory and institutions inherited from the Algerian War; and the political possibilities in the decade after 1968.”
An overview of the book is available on the password-protected Papers page of this website. Please contact a co-convener for this month’s password.
A remote attendance option is also offered for this meeting. Please contact a co-convener for the Zoom link
